Isaiah 43 Commentary
Chapter 43 is fundamental to the Christian doctrine. God created us for His own glory. Verse 7. To declare His praise. Verse 21.
Humanity achieves this design spec by being in the image of the Creator God. Thus, declare His praise. God’s glory on display, consequently!
This is God’s side of the story. Israel is precious in His sight, honored, and loved. Verse 4.
Let not Israel be afraid. Instead, let them be witness to God’s sovereignty. They have seen and experienced it. He is holy and stands alone, fully separated from others – the Creator God.
But Israel has her own side of the story. They haven’t called upon the LORD. They have burdened the LORD with their sins – presenting a different version of the original product.
A beautiful flowering plant designed to produce more fragrance and varied flowers infinitely is nothing but an ugly thorn-bush without leaves!
The message is simple: “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I’m doing a new thing!” Let’s get back to the starting point.
This version of God is impossible to understand. Especially when you can destroy the bad product and create a new one!
While the first partition of Isaiah is full of visions, the second partition has direct revelations delivered in straight lines. The scripture talks about forgiveness and restoration. Let Israel return to the Creator God.
And here we are under the rule of Christ. Individuals under the rule of Jesus Christ know what it means to live under the Kingdom of God. It starts here.
We shall see completeness when the LORD returns and removes wickedness from His creation. For now, there is repentance to be had – a reason to spread the good news about the availability of forgiveness and a fresh start under the rule of the Christ.
