Proverbs 24 Commentary
Fight your life’s battles with wise counsel. Consider every possible outcome.
There is safety in the multitude of counsel. Verse 6.
It’s an encouragement not to make a decision based on zero information. It’s the kind of lesson you get in a management lecture!
Yes, it’s from scripture. Men and women live in a world of decisions. And each decision comes with its own set of consequences. The expectation is that a man will consider “everything”.
Build your house by wisdom (Wisdom). But don’t be envious of evil men. You are not foolish for not getting to the apex like them.
Your building will be founded on Wisdom, on the Rock, and not on sand. Not the difference.
The wisdom of God is foolishness to the perishing. You don’t want to be in that class!
The devil preached rebellion as ‘good’. Adam fell for it. After Genesis 3, the scripture has one message: Wisdom is good; eat it. The message has been packaged in many different ways, but it remains the same. Wisdom is sweeter than honey; enjoy it. There is a reward for it. There is a bright future for it.
The wicked have their own day, but let not the saint rejoice. Their disastrous ending is painful to the LORD. He wants them saved. The warning to the wicked is actually a love call.
The thirty sayings are completed here, but there is more on diligence, justice, and planning. How do they affect daily living? Diligence earns you a profit. The LORD watches over injustice. Laziness and stupidity are the same.
A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest; so shall your poverty come like a prowler, and your need like an armed man.
The LORD warns. Act now, or risk your own life.
