Psalm 100 Commentary
He Created Us!
To think that the computer created itself would be unbelievably stupid. Mortals get close to this state when they claim that they are a product of random and unplanned chemical reactions!
The psalmist has a different view. Humans are a product of God’s creation. Verse 3.
You cannot be joyful without first having joy. And joy is the fruit of the Spirit. Verse 1 is impossible unless the individual is born-again and is, consequently, filled with the Holy Spirit.
Joy is an impossible business in the world. It cannot be had any other way but by the Holy Spirit! Of course, several joy imitations exist, but real joy can only come from within a transformed soul. You cannot fake it!
Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Confounding and probably also challenging! Our own worship sessions seem fully loaded with sorrowful souls hungry for vanities. They are also angry for not having the vanities they so fervently seek.
This psalm calls us to a place of joyful worship.
