Psalm 103 Commentary

Psalm 103 Commentary

Who is God? This psalm answers the question.

He forgives all our iniquities and heals all our diseases. He redeems our lives from destruction. He crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies.

He satisfies us with good things. He executes righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.

He is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in mercy. He will not always strive with us, nor will He keep His anger forever.

He has not dealt with us according to our sins, nor punished us according to our iniquities.

How else can you put it? More often than not, commentaries, including this one, tend to diminish the real value of the scriptures. These commentaries serves one purpose: “Let’s love the scriptures.”

Injustice is when mortals get less punishment than they deserve. We can blame the compassion of the LORD for this! That’s what those who fear Him experience!

We see Calvary in these lines! The father’s love is fully displayed!

Mortals never last. Your own empire, your own corporation, your house, or your own island that you named after yourself will always forget you. That’s life for us all as individuals. But the LORD looks at us as a permanent treasure! His mercy is from everlasting to everlasting!

What does it mean to fear the LORD? It means to remember and do His commandments. The “doing” part is most important!

Fact file: The LORD has established His throne in heaven. His Kingdom rules over all.

With everything going on, humans live with the thought that, probably, the LORD is temporarily absent from His throne. This is a myth.

Instead, let all mortals praise the LORD. But “praise” has one important enemy, forgetfulness. The psalmist commands himself (his mental faculties) to remember the benefits of the LORD.

Let creation praise the LORD. Indeed, praise the LORD!
