Exodus 36 Commentary

Exodus 36 Commentary

We have a moment to be proud of here. The generosity of God’s people overtakes the needs, and Moses has to stop the people from offering more. We doubt if priests today would do such a thing—standing on the cash pipe!

Again Moses shows us how to handle ministry resources. Let the spending departments handle the resources required for their work. We shouldn’t have any further interest or overbearing control.

The field workers show integrity by reporting that they have enough for the works. It’s indeed a high point.

Verse 8 gives us a picture of the composition of the workforce. We have both skilled and unskilled workers. This picture is so beautiful because there is always something for every hand, skilled or unskilled!

In Chapter 35, we see a long list of requirements—expensive and less expensive items—all required. God’s people gave as the LORD enabled them. Big givers and small givers are all important.

The heavenly scale measures the gift against ability. And the scale only works in an environment of “free will”.

With both materials and labor available the tabernacle takes shape as per design.
