Revelation 14 Commentary
Reduce the message of Revelation to verse 12 and you know how to react during the times of Chapter 14.
We had the same instruction in verse 10 of Chapter 13.
“This calls for patient endurance on the part of the people of God who keep his commands and remain faithful to Jesus.”
In another place, we observed how the saint overcame by the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony.
Paul would talk about the armor of God. Patience, endurance, and faithfulness are underlined as critical components of the battle. In another place, these would be part of the fruit of the Spirit.
We see trees and fellow humans. We interact with other elements of nature such as wind and sunlight. We don’t see beasts and angels. But John discussed these entities as occupying the same space as humans. The scripture wants us to appreciate these happenings and arm ourselves with faithfulness, patience, and endurance – summarized as obedience to the commands of Jesus.
We all have invisible IDs. 666 is for the unsaved. The name of the Lamb and that of His Father would be for believers – those described as virgins because of the cleansing by the Lamb’s blood. He bought them in a transaction that saw Him lose His own life at Calvary. The saint knows his value!
The eternal gospel is this: “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.” Verse 7. When a version excludes judgment from the statement, know you don’t have the gospel!
It shall always be Gospel.Calvary and never Gospel 2.9 or Gospel 2024 Full version!
Judgment comes against Babylon. But Babylon never existed in John’s day. Of course, Rome did but Rome doesn’t exist anymore. It references the falling of the rulers, the authorities, the powers of the dark world, and the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Satan and his system(s) come down when the LORD Jesus decides it is time.
Not only the bad satanic system(s) but also all who subscribed to satan and his system(s) – they come down together. All those who liked satan’s page!
It appears there is some success when the eternal gospel is proclaimed. So “one like the son of man” harvests the earth first before judgment.
One thing is clear: It is possible to hear the eternal gospel now and be ready to be harvested.
