Revelation 3 Commentary
When you feel great, you want to want to check your pulse. This feeling might be the kind the Sardisians had. They probably enjoyed healthy social rankings online! Numbers never lied! But Jesus wasn’t impressed. They were a dead church!
This letter is as scary as it is encouraging. Amid this life lie sat the remnant. Only a few. When the world makes holiness an impossibility, there remains a “few people unsoiled”. It is possible to honor the name of Jesus even under extremely wicked conditions.
The world’s statement that no one is perfect isn’t in the same line as the saint’s confession. It is a justification for wrongdoing rather than a call to repentance and dependence on the purifying power of the Spirit of grace.
A reputation is what you are known for. A good reputation may win you votes but it’s Jesus’ opinion that matters. It’s an opinion pool of one that takes you to Heaven! Yes, it’s an election but the voter is one!
If the world is a stage, know you are the only actor on it, with Jesus as your audience!
It matters what you do and how you do it. Your words and the heart behind your words matter to the Master.
It’s one huge success story for satan that many people feel safe in their skins. A good and charitable personality means their passport to Heaven is secured. People’s praise would be a PIN code for entry into Heaven. Such deception! There is no passport office; nor is there any secure door! Only Jesus stands between you and Heaven. You can only go through Him! He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life!
Check your pulse; check for Jesus. Those who feel you are alive must check for Jesus. It means a ‘good’ is never one until Jesus says so. Charity works aren’t worth the trouble if the heart isn’t Jesus’ heart. Many don’t want to hear this but Jesus is the only identity card you need in Heaven!
