James 2 Commentary

James 2 Commentary

The Christian walk boils down to simple actions: Equal respect for all people and faith in action.

Christianity is in the walk. Faith without action is dead.

Money and fame define a man. But that’s for the world! Christianity has a different set of rules. A man’s value is independent of his money. Online social status rankings don’t count. Your importance is defined by your Creator.

Put premium importance on what God has set aside as special. The poor man should be really important if Jesus decides to stay in his heart! We cannot be any wiser!

And the sinner? Well, they too are important given that Jesus leaves the 99 and goes after them! Respect flows from the lens of Jesus!

The I, I, I, and I world contradicts the values of Heaven. Injustice is treating the equal unequally. We are all equal in the eyes of the Creator God. A small talent here and there won’t change anything!

Walk the talk. Walk the big talk. Check your actions and see if they match your big talk!

James underlines the point that good intentions alone aren’t good enough. Well-wishes are welcome, only if matched by action! We must act our faith!
