2 Corinthians 3 Commentary
Paul’s advert is strange. The Church at Corinth is Paul’s advert. You probably understand why he wants this advert polished. But don’t be mistaken, this advert is not for cameras and social media rankings! Opinion polls won’t pick it; it is written in human hearts. And only the one who searches the human heart can find it.
Paul’s advert is meant for Jesus.
Are you impressed with your ministry? Don’t check the attendance register. Instead, check the hearts of men and women. Are they drawn to Jesus in a way that honors the Father?
It is strange that Paul, of all people, should be the one talking about the law in this manner. This man is a Rabbi – a teacher of the Law belonging to a special group called Pharisees. They hold the Law quite highly! But Paul has seen Jesus and now can talk about the New Covenant under the Spirit of Jesus. That’s what gives life!
If the law of Moses came with a “red carpet”, what more is the Law of the Spirit?
There is a glory that saints cannot probably see. This great message comes with heavenly glory because it is the message of the Spirit. It carries Power; it carries transformation and restoration.
Let the messenger be bold; let the messenger know it. You don’t carry the King’s message lightly. The King’s messages shake the earth. Elements of creation stand still as you deliver the message. “What is the instruction, LORD,” they respond.
The gospel comes with infinitely greater glory than we can possibly imagine. Ponder. Have I delivered the King’s word? Have I communicated the King’s wish? Today’s messenger may want to ask these questions.
