Luke 12b Commentary

Jesus marvels at humanity’s lack of logic! What has happened to His creation? Won’t men and women tell that there are decision lines drawn for them everywhere? Won’t they see the open doors for escape from judgment?

Of course, they can. They don’t need anything complex. The LORD is knocking at the door of your heart. Heed the message and be safe.

“Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division.” What has happened to the Prince of Peace? Is Isaiah 9 still part of the scripture?

Consecration is the separation of the holy from the unholy; the sacred from the common; and the godly from the ungodly. It is a divorce notice! Light and darkness can no longer live together. This division is important. Families will separate and friends will part company. You and the loved but sinful habits must part company!

Let the ‘parting’ happen now before the LORD returns. No one knows the hour of His return. You get the picture that there is a time window for repentance. There is a time for repentance and there is a time for judgment. Let the logical mind know the difference.

Once you are on the right side of the equation, know what is important. There are rewards beyond this life. Don’t be bothered with counterfeits. Instead, keep focus on the heavenly rewards – the realities of the promises of God. Don’t worry. Don’t be afraid. In your hands is God’s special gift – the kingdom.

Don’t do what the pagan world does. Ponder. The saint cannot have the same ambitions as the pagan. You like the same cars, same holiday spots, same clothes, same drinks, same fashions, same stories, same heroes, same shops… Know there is a huge problem. No separation has happened. Ponder.
