Zephaniah 2 Commentary

Seek the LORD, all you humble of the land, you who do what He commands. Verse 3. Perhaps you will be sheltered on the day of the LORD’s anger. Perhaps.

Can things get worse?

Chapter 2 is special in its emphasis on the right response by the remnant. Forget the wicked; let the remnant respond with more humility and righteousness. Who knows, the LORD might just shelter them on the day of the LORD’s anger!

Things we easily take for granted! The holiness of the LORD is such that even the saints hardly qualify!

Philistia, Cush, and Assyria are a different story altogether. Their fate hasn’t come with question marks. It is a concluded matter. Forget the safety and wealth of the wicked!

I am the one! And there is none besides me. Verse 15. There is a sense of invincibility, but it is always a structure built on sand!

The saint wants to read this chapter with open eyes! The times of extreme wickedness are times the LORD demands more humility and righteousness. How we pray for more grace!
